The solemn keel-laying ceremony of the self-propelled ferry of project 2967/3132 for crossing the river Svir has taken place today at Nevsky Shipyard, IAA PortNews journalist reports.
The ceremony has been attended by the representatives of the Customer, Russian River Register, design organizations, equipment and materials suppliers.
Mikhail Kozminykh, Chairman of the Public Roads Committee at the Leningrad Region Government, told that the ice-protected ferry boat can be operated round the year. The delivery of the boat costing RUB 184 mln is scheduled for July 1, 2015.
According to Mikhail Kozminykh, one of the ferries operating at the Svir near Voznesenje settlement today is a non-self-propelled boat which requires assistance of a pusher boat.
“Having obtained a new ferry boat we will contribute to safer transportation of Voznesenje citizens,” he said.
According to him, the name for the boat will be selected through a competition.
Executive Director of Shipbuilding Engineering Center Nikolai Fomin noted that specific quantity of metal in this project has been decreased by over 10% as compared with the similar vessels. Besides, cargo and passenger capacity of the boat has been increased.
The vessel designed by Shipbuilding Engineering Center is being built under the contract signed in August 2014 with Automobile Road Department of the Leningrad region.
