Marina Kovtun who had won Murmansk Region Governor elections with over 64% of votes came into office on October 8, 2014, PR department of the regional government says.
Anton Bogomolov, Chairman of the regional election committee, says the election has been recognized as valid and on September 22, 2014, Marina Kovtun was recognized as the Governor of the Murmansk Region.
Marina Kovtun has sworn allegiance to the citizens of the Murmansk Region.
“I’m sure, it is not just my personal victory gains but also a support of our team policy serving the interests of the Murmansk Region citizens”, Marina Kovtun said.
She emphasized that the Government of the Murmansk Region has laid down the guidelines for the region development and has already embarked on implementation of the projects contributing to its competitiveness. These are primarily the projects related to the Arctic development and creation of a base for production of mineral resources.
“When implementing large-scale project we shouldn’t forget about everyday needs of our population. … There are no minor problems for our people, hence there are no minor problems for municipal and regional authorities”, the Governor said.
