Keel laying held for two new offshore supply vessels of the MTD R277 project at Keppel Nantong Shipyard

In the People's Republic of China on the building berths of the Keppel Nantong Shipyard, the simultaneous laying of the keels of two offshore supply vessels of the MTD R277 project has been carried out. The ceremony was held on 4 October 2014, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping said in its media release.

The vessels are being built under the survey of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. The customer is the LUKOIL Company, and operation of the ships on a long-term charter contract has been entrusted to the Singaporean company BUMIARMADA.

The new vessels are designed to supply offshore development facilities of the V. Filanovsky field in the northern part of the Caspian Sea and ensure their safe operation.

The project envisages equipping the ships with systems for fire-fighting on fixed offshore platforms and transhipment facilities, as well as equipment for oil spill response.

Main particulars:
length - 80.00 m
width - 16.50 m
depth - 6.20 m
draft to summer waterline - 3.80 m
DWT 1000 tonnes
class notation KM✪ Arc4 [1] AUT1 ICS FF3WS DYNPOS-2 Supply Vessel

Survey of construction is being carried out by a branch of OOO Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (Tianjin) in Shanghai. Construction is expected to be completed in September 2015.

The V. Filanovsky field is the largest oil reserve opened in Russia over the past 10 years and the most large-scale offshore project involving RS. Here, RS provides survey over the whole complex of offshore structures, including offshore pipelines, as well as the conduct of marine operations for pipeline installation and towing of platforms to their installation sites. To date, under the RS survey, the first stage development facilities have been built, towed to and installed at the operation site: the sub-structure of an ice-resistant fixed platform (IFP), the living quarters platform (LQP), the riser block and the central processing platform. The IFP-1 and LQP-1 topside sections have been delivered to the area and have been mated with their sub-structures. Construction of facilities for the second stage of the field development is also being carried out in line with RS-approved project documentation.
