It is necessary to develop a programme of dredging operations on the Volga river, which will let shipyards secure more contracts, press center of the Nizhni Novgorod Government cites the Region Governor Valery Shantsev.
On October 24, 2014, the Governor visited Shipyard “Oka” where he held an out-of-headquarters meeting on shipbuilding development in the region an participated in the launching of the third ship of project RST54 built by the shipyard for BF Tanker.
“Shipyard “Oka” could have more orders but low water level on the Volga creates certain difficulties. There are less orders for vessels with the draught of 1.7 m as they are difficult to be taken from here, only two months throughout a year provide such an opportunity. This problem should be handled. I have already ordered that related ministries in conjunction with the interested federal bodies develop a programme on dredging operations. This will let our companies secure more contracts …,” the Governor says.
