OPDR starts new service between Morocco and Northwest Europe

The German shipping company OPDR is launching a new service between North Africa and Northwest Europe. Rotterdam will be the transhipment port for the connection to Scandinavia and Russia, the company said in its press release.

The new weekly service will be operated by OPDR Maroc, a recently established subsidiary of OPDR, and will cater for container cargo and reefer transport. The so-called Argan Express will operate with three 700 TEU vessels and a maximum capacity of 120 reefer containers.

With the establishment of the Moroccan subsidiary and the direct connection between North Africa and Northern Europe, with Rotterdam as transit port for cargo destined for Scandinavia and Russia, OPDR wants to benefit fully from the strong growth in volume on this trade route.
The Argan Express departs from the Moroccan city of Agadir for Cadiz, Tilbury in England, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg.
