Box traffic at Tallinn port rose 3.7% in Jan-Oct to more than 222,000 TEUs
Containers throughput at Estonia based Port of Tallinn in January-October 2014 increased by 3.7% compared with the same period last year to 222,039 TEUs, the Port Authority statistics said.
Handling of Ro-Ro cargo increased by 9.1% to 3.4 million tonnes.
Port of Tallinn ranks third among largest seaport, next to St. Petersburg and Primorsk, on the Baltic Sea. The Port comprises five so-called port zones: Muuga, Old City Harbor, Paljassaare, Paldiski South and Saaremaa. In 2013 Tallinn port handled 28.25 million tonnes of different cargoes, passenger traffic increased by 4% to 9.2 million people. Net profit of Tallinna Sadam in 2013 increased by 21% to 39.7 million euros.
