Rostov Customs seized 12 tonnes of undeclared bunker fuel carried on board KAPITAN CHEKHA
Officers of investigation department at the Rostov Customs' post Sea Port of Azov have instituted administrative proceedings over concealment of goods from customs control, the regional customs press office reported.
The regional Customs were carrying out routine customs procedures inspecting the bulker KAPITAN CHEKHA laden with 4,912 tonnes that arrived at the port of Azov from Turkish Port Iskanderun. According to available information the vessel carried on board undeclared goods.
During the customs inspection, checking fuel tanks customs officers found in one of the tanks disguised as an empty one the hidden liquid with a characteristic odor of petroleum product weighing more than 12 metric tons.
In accordance with the customs legislation of the Customs Union ship's stores, necessary for the operation of ships, are subject to customs declaration and are duty-free goods.
The Rostov customs seized the illegal undeclared cargo. Sampling of the liquid bulk cargo were handed over to the lab for analisys. The customs opened a criminal case against the ship owner.
