Reconstructed approach canal put into operation in Ust-Luga (chart)
Under the permit of Rosmorrechflot dated November 10, 2014, a newly reconstructed approach canal has been put into operation in the New Harbour Ruchyi (seaport of Ust-Luga) including the operational water area of Ust-Luga seaport with the total area of almost 0.16 square kilometers.
The reconstruction under the federal special-purpose programme “Development of Russia’s Transport System (2010-2020)” was executed by FSUE Rosmorport as a construction customer in August-November 2012. The second phase of works included dredging of 405,700 cbm of material to ensure the depth of 9.4 m in the operational water area near Berth No1 of the ro-ro cargo terminal and in the turning basin as well as 9.7 m at the approach canal. Total investments from the federal budget amounted to RUB 427 mln.
With the implementation of the project on reconstruction of the approach canal in the New Harbour Ruchyi of Ust-Luga seaport, a safe approach to New Harbour terminal has been ensured for vessels with the length of up to 140 meters, width of up to 22.7 meters and loaded draught of up to 7.35 meters which directly contributes to expansion of ro-ro and general cargo transshipment of the sea terminal.
