Cochin Shipyard launches the twelfth fast patrol vessel
Cochin Shipyard launched the twelfth of the 20 Fast Patrol Vessels (BY 512) being built for Indian Coast Guard, the company said in its press release. The vessel was named ‘ICGS ANKIT’ and launched by Smt Jeeja Sadanandan, wife of DIG T.P. Sadanandan, CGRP S (KOC), ICG, in a simple ceremony at Cochin Shipyard. DIG T.P. Sadanandan, CGRPS(KOC), Capt R S Sundar, Director (Operations), CSL, Shri D Paul Ranjan, Director ( Finance), CSL and Shri Sunny Thomas, Director (Technical), CSL and other senior officials of CSL and ICG were present on the occasion.
On the occasion DIG T.P. Sadanandan, CGR PS(KOC) laid the Keel of BY – 513 the thirteenth FPV. 2. CSL has so far delivered 9 vessels in the 20 ves sel series and the tenth vessel is getting ready for sea trials. The ninth vessel ICGS AM EYA was handed over to the Indian Coast Guard on 20 th November 2014. The Buoy Tender Vessel that CSL is building for the Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships was also launched on the 15th of this month. The construction of Indigenous Aircraft Carrier, the most prestigious warship of the Indian navy has entered the second phase.
