EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port (EVRAZ NMTP) between January and October handled 8,55 million tonnes of cargo, which represents a 28% growth on the same period 2013, the stevedore company said.
Coal exports handled at the terminal hit its record high ever to 5,1 million tonnes. Shipments of ferrous metals totaled 3,3 million tonnes. The remaining volume accounted for non-ferrous metals, coke, vanadium slag, and timber products.
In November, the terminal operator handled 834,000 tonnes of cargo, or up 70% from the same period a year ago. The monthly volume gain was driven primarily by a twofold surge in export coal volumes. to 526,000 tonnes. Monthly volume of metals increased to 298,700 tonnes.
Handling of steel products also grew, but at a slower pace. Shipments of ferrous metals through the Evraz NCSP facility in November totaled 296,000 tonnes versus 253,000 tones a year earlier.
EVRAZ Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port is a major stevedore company operating at the largest Russia’s Far Eastern Port of Nakhodka, located in the eastern Gulf of Peter the Great, in Nakhodka Bay. The port is linked to the Eurasian continent through the Trans-Siberian Railway, serving the Asia-Europe-Asia trade flows. The port is able to handle up to 450 rail cars a day. Warehousing facilities area is 300,000 m2. JSC EVRAZ NCSP operates on 15 cargo berths and one facility for handling the port’s workboats, of total length of 3.5 km, which can accommodate ships with length of 230m, breadth of 32m and draft of 11 m. Currently, at least 15 ships are able dock at the port’s berths simultaneously and the port can receive more than 1,500 large vessels a year.
