Macs Maritime Carrier starts a new multipurpose service between Rotterdam and Gulf/Mexico

The Hamburg (Germany)-based carrier Macs Maritime Carrier is to start a new multipurpose service between the UK/Northwest Continent and the US Gulf/Mexico- US east coast in January 2015. The the monthly service connects the port of Rotterdam with Altamira (Mexico), New Orleans and Houston, the company said in its press release.
 
The service will employ two openhatch/box-shaped, 34,000 dwt multipurpose container vessels - the "Amber Lagoon" and the "Purple Beach", both of which are equipped with lifting gear for up to 110 t. Breakbulk, unitized cargo, rolling stock, steel products, project cargo, bulk parcels and containers will be accepted.
 
In Europe the service is managed by Macs Maritime Carrier in Hamburg. Galborg USA, based in Houston TX, has been appointed general agent in the USA.
