The Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia (Roshydromet) adheres to conservative forecast of warming in the Arctic, the federal agency official said Wednesday.
Alexander, the head of Roshydromet told journalists at the IV International Forum "The Arctic: Present and Future" in St. Petersburg that the we should not expect radical warming, however, this process will go on and be accompanied by such dangerous phenomena for offshore infrastructure as increased compression of ice, rising danger from icebergs and loosening shores.
Alexander Frolov single out one of the pressing problems - the creation of a service for monitoring icebergs. In addition, the head of Hydromet reported that in 2015 it is planned to establish in the Arctic another Russian polar station.
