Complex for automated loosening of coal has been put into operation at port Posiet (Primorsk Territory, Mechel Group), the Group’s press center says.
The complex can operate with the temperature of up to -40 Celsius degrees which allows for speeding up the unloading process and increasing of the total throughput.
As it was reported earlier, in the first quarter of 2014 port Posiet saw the launch of the trial run of a specialized coal terminal. Coal is mostly unloaded by two wagon dumpers, which doubles the transshipment speed.
In 2014, the port’s coal exports to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region exceeded 5 mln t. In 2015 the port is expected reach the capacity of 7 million tonnes of coal. Considering the port infrastructure’s future upgrading, which includes construction of a sea terminal and an approach channel for Panamax-type vessels with cargo capacity of up to 60,000 tonnes, Trade port’s turnover is planned to reach 12 million tonnes of coal in the mid-term.
