Last week, Terminal Astafiev in Nakhodka completed loading of bulk carrier ZHEHAI 363, first Panamax dry bulk carrier in its history.
Press center of Terminal Astafiev says the ZHEHAI 363 (registered in Shanghai) has a deadweight of 57,520 t, length – 189.99 m, depth – over 18 m, draught max – 12.98 m. The ship was built in 2010 in China.
Handling of the ZHEHAI 363 became possible after dredging operations at the berth and modernization of the terminal’s berth and facilities. The dry bulk carrier was loaded with Russian coal produced in Kemerovo and Kuzbass.
In 2014, Terminal Astafiev handled 1.27 mln t of coal (+26.1%, year-on-year).
Terminal Astafiev OJSC owns an intermodal coal terminal at the Astafiev Cape in Nakhodka. The terminal modernization is underway. The project implementation started in December 2012 with the signing of an agreement with Russian Railways OJSC on modernization of the Astafiev Cape public station in Nakhodka. The project on modernization of the terminal implies dredging of the channel entering the Bay of Nakhodka. Under the project, the company also acquired a closed-type conveyor line with the capacity of 1,500 t/h. The second phase of the modernization is aimed at boosting throughput capacity of the station. The marine terminal is deep enough to handle vessels of up to 30,000 t in deadweight. In 2015, Terminal Astafievis set to handle 6 mln t of coal.
