Rosprirodnadzor to complete unscheduled inspection of 95 bunker suppliers in summer 2015

Russia's environmental watchdog, Rosprirodnadzor, will complete unscheduled inspection of 95 bunkering companies including six vertically integrated companies (VIOCs) in June-July 2015, IAA PortNews journalist cites Oleg Dolmatov, deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage), as saying at the VI International Ecological Forum which opened in Saint-Petersburg on February 26, 2015.

According to Oleg Dolmatov, inspection of the bunkering companies operating in the Azov - Black Sea Basin have already been fulfilled. The violations revealed are considered to be the main cause of water area pollution.

Oleg Dolmatov said 99% of oil spills were caused by improper functioning of those responsible for bunkering operations, i.e. human factor. Only 1% of oil spills should be attributed to technical reasons.
