Krylov Center holds conference on advance in naval shipbuilding and icebreaker technology developments
Mr. Maxim Kochetkov, newly appointed director of Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Facilities Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation (Minpromtorg), paid KSRC a familiarization visit on May 22 to see its unique test facilities and learn more about its research capabilities, says press center of Krylov State Research Center. During a tour about KSRC premises, Mr. Vladimir Nikitin, Director General, brought his important guest up to speed on the key directions of KSRC activities.
The itinerary of this familiarization tour included the test facilities of Krylov Centre, in particular, new Ice Basin, Training & Simulation Centre capable of simulating marine operations in ice conditions of any kind, Baltsudoproekt design bureau that will be celebrating its 90th birthday this year, HPC & CFD Centre with the most performant computer in the entire Russian shipbuilding industry, and also the facilities of Hydrodynamics and Hydrophysics divisions working on introduction of stealth technologies into Russian shipbuilding practice.
The final point of this visit was the conference during which KSRC experts briefed Mr. Kochetkov on the main axes of KSRC advance in naval shipbuilding and about the key aspects and vectors of icebreaker technology developments. In particular, the discussion covered innovative designs of an Arctic drillship and high ice-class vessels.
