United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), a leading container shipping line today announced it has achieved the International Organization for Standardization Certification (ISO 27001:2013) from BSI Middle East and Africa. The Certification was awarded for its information security management system (ISMS) in place to secure and protect all financial, legal, personal and employee data as well as all data entrusted by third parties, the company said in its press release.
As the internationally recognized standard for managing information security in an organization, ISO 27001 Certification requires rigorous repeated external assessment and demands applicants meet with high standards of risk management and security control on an on-going basis. It covers all processes within an organization that control the way business is conducted and services are delivered to customers.
UASC is undergoing one of the shipping industry’s most ambitious newbuilding programs comprising eleven 15,000 TEU vessels and six 18,800 TEU vessels to be delivered between November 2014 and September 2016. The nature and complexity of the industry requires a world class information security system and a commitment from management and staff to not only maintain, but continuously improve UASC’s security management.
