Chief Executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Mr Andrew Tan delivered a keynote speech at the "Sailing for More" International Maritime Conference held in conjunction with China Maritime Day at Ningbo, China on 10 July 2015, MPA said in its press release.
In his speech, Mr Tan said China's 21st Century Maritime Silk Road could help foster greater regional integration based on the principles of openness and inclusiveness, mutual cooperation and benefit, complementarity with existing regional architectures and leveraging on advances in new technology, ideas and best practices. Mr Tan added that Singapore and China enjoy close cooperation and ports like Ningbo and Singapore could play important roles in the development of the new Maritime Silk Road.
The China Maritime Day is held from 9 - 11 July 2015. Mr Tan also visited the Port of Ningbo, now the world's 4th largest port by container volume after Shenzhen, Singapore and Shanghai.
