An Irkutsk branch of JSC Freight One between April and July transported more than 134,000 tonnes of goods for consumers and industry sectors in the remote territories of Irkutsk Oblast. The contract is executed under the Russian Government's program of seasonal deliveries of stockpiles to the country's Far North (Northern Deliveries), the rail operator said in a press release.
The share of FO in this segment of freight traffic on the East Siberian Railway has reached 12%.
The cargo hauled to the Northern territories includes fuel and energy, petroleum products, metal pipes, food, construction materials and equipment, and concrete products.
The multimodal deliveries included freight transport from the regions of Russia to the railway stations Lena, Lena-East and Yakurim of East-Siberian Railway for further transfer to dry / liquid bulk inland vessels and shipping to the points of destination.
In the three months of navigation season railcars of FO hauled 67,700 tonnes in rail tank cars, 54,200 tonnes in gondola cars, 7,300 tonnes in flatcars and 5,000 tonnes in boxcars.
