Sail training ship Kruzenshtern will undergo sea trials after her bowsprit repair in the Baltic Sea. On July 18, 2015 (10:00 MSK) the barque will leave the dock of Svetlovsky Ship Repair Yard and sail to the Baltic Sea through Kaliningrad navigation canal, said the ship owner the Baltic Fishing Fleet State Academy(BFFSA). During the trials the crew will be testing sailing gear.
The barque on July 2015 suffered minor damages in a collision with two Iceland Coast Guard vessels while maneuvering at the exit from the port of Reykjavik.
The four-masted tall ship was built in 1926 at Geestemünde in Bremerhaven, Germany and named after the Italian city the Padua. She was surrendered to the USSR in 1946 as war reparation and renamed after the early 19th century Baltic German explorer in Russian service, Adam Johann Krusenstern (1770–1846). The Russian sail training ship is homeported in Kaliningrad.
