Ceremonial keel-laying of armament store carrier of Project 20181 designed by Almaz bureau (Saint-Petersburg) has been held today, July 23, 2015, at Ship Repair Center ‘Zvezdochka’ (Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region). The state contract for construction and delivery of the state-of-the-art armament store carrier was signed on September 1, 2014, the shipbuilding company says.
The ice-class ship is intended for loading, unloading and transportation of armament.
Characteristics of armament store carrier of Project 20181: length – 107.6 m, beam – 17.8 m, full displacement – 6,300 t; crew – 60. The ship can accept Ка-29 helicopters; ice class – Arc5; unlimited area of navigation. The vessel is to join RF Navy in 2018.
The ship will be named Academic Makeyev.
The statement also says the principle of imports replacement will be applied during the vessel construction in compliance with the order of Russian President and the tasks of RF Ministry of Defence. Earlier imported ship systems and equipment will be replaced with those manufactured in Saint-Petersburg, Kolomna and Nizhny Novgorod. The propulsion complex will be produced by Zvezdochka.
Ship Repair Center ‘Zvezdochka’ (Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Region) specializes in shipbuilding and ship repair, manufacture of propulsive screws. The company is a member of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
