CIMC Raffles names its self-designed gas compression unit
On 28th Aug. 2015, AGOSTO-12, the self-designed gas compression unit by CIMC Raffles for Coastal Contracts, has been named in CIMC Raffles Longkou Shipyard, before setting sail for Gulf of Mexico recently, the company said in its press release.
AGOSTO-12 adopts the TAISUN200B design from CIMC Raffles, classed by ABS (American bureau of shipping), which consists of a rectangle hull with four cylindrical legs support. The hull size is 75m long, 50m wide and can operate during the category III summer hurricane of Gulf of Mexico with the maximum wind velocity 57.6m/s, 55m water depth, 19m air gap, 15m soil penetration, 16.5m maximum design wave height. AGOSTO-12 is provided with 4 sets of hydraulic pin jacking system with 3200MT normal jacking and 6000MT storm holding capacity which is currently the most powerful hydraulic jacking system made in China.
AGOSTO-12 is independently and purposely designed by CIMC Raffles based on client requirement. It is provided with the world's largest diameter cylindrical legs with 4.5 meters diameter and 112 meters length and integrated the powerful hydraulic jacking system to meet the tough requirement of highly operation water depth, harsh environmental conditions and high jacking load. It adopts the type of small bearing area spudcan, which has the advantages of easier penetration, higher strength, easier to pullout. It can swap the diagonal legs without the need of ballast adjustment during preload, which save 75% preloading time relative in contrast to single leg preload. Furthermore, AGOSTO-12 is equipped environmental-friendly dual fuel engine, which can use associated gas from oil field as fuel, effectively reduce the emissions of sulfide and other harmful objects. It also satisfied the Hong Kong convention Green Passport requirements, greatly reduce the pollution of the environment and operating costs.
AGOSTO-12 has received an 8-year charter from PEMEX and will be operated in Cantarell Oil Field in Gulf of Mexico after the ceremony, the Jackup will be operated by TRESE and NUVOIL. Cantarell is estimated to flare a great amount of associated gas every day, AGOSTO-12 recycles associated gas and reinjects it into oil layer, aiming to raise recovery rate. As an effective solution for offshore associated gas recycle, AGOSTO-12 can daily deal with 200 million cubic feet associated gas.
