New vessel call notification routines at the Port of Gothenburg come into effect on October 1

New vessel call notification routines at the Port of Gothenburg are due to come into effect on October 1. The VTMS system will be replaced, , the company said in its press release. The aim behind the change of system is to simplify routines for both public agencies and industry.

The Swedish Maritime Administration, Swedish Customs, the Swedish Transport Agency, the Swedish Coast Guard and the Port of Gothenburg have come together to establish a joint Internet-based reporting portal for sea traffic that will cover all five agencies. The name of the portal is Maritime Single Window. The reason for the change is EU Directive 2010/65/EU, which aims to simplify and harmonise administrative procedures. The goal is to improve efficiency and simplify routines for both industry and public agencies.

The following will apply:
Swedish Maritime Administration – Maritime Single Window Reportal will be shut down on October 1 between 6am and 12 noon (CET). Consequently, the Port of Gothenburg will not be able to receive any vessel call notifications using this method.
VTMS will shut down at the same time, Thursday, October 1 at 6am (CET).
