Russia’s Deputy PM says construction of FNPP at Baltiysky Zavod will be completed in autumn 2016

Construction of floating nuclear power plant (FNPP) will be completed at Baltiysky Zavod shipyard (Saint-Petersburg) in autumn 2016, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, as saying during his visit to the shipyard.

He says FNPP will supply electricity to Pevek settlement in Chukotka Autonomous District.

Long-term project of Pevek based FNPP is focused on reliable and economically efficient supply of electricity and heat to the consumers of Chaun-Bilibinsky energy hub and scheduled replacement of Chaunskaya and Bilibinskaya NPPs. The floating nuclear power plant is to be put into operation by 2019.

Construction and assembly works will be performed under the Agreement on cooperation in development of the region’s electric power industry signed by Chukotka Governor Roman Kopin and Rosatom Director General Sergei Kiriyenko during the First Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok in early September.
