It took four hours to perform four towing operations with Panamax class ships at Murmansk Commercial seaport. According to the press center of PJSC Murmansk Commercial seaport, the Company could earlier perform only three mooring operations over this period of time.
“A kind of technological record was possible through the well coordinated activities of the Company’s operations control centre, the port’s pilotage department and shipping company MASCO providing a required number of tugboats”, the statement says.
Panamax class ships usually exceed 200 meters in length, their breadth is about 30 meters, draught – up to 14 meters, displacement – about 70,000 tonnes. Murmansk Commercial seaport usually performs mooring operations at full tide.
The Company is going to handle almost 3.5 mln t of cargo in the first quarter of 2016, which is the equal to cargo turnover in the same period of the previous year.
Murmansk Commercial seaport was founded in 1994. MMTP operates 17 berths of total length of about 3 km. The waters depths allow the port to accommodate vessels with draft of 15.5 m and length of more than 265 m.
