Handling containers at the Port of Los Angeles in January-July 2016 increased by 4.75% on the same period a year ago to 4.82 million TEUs, the port statistics showed.
In July, container terminals of the port handled 501.19 thousand TEUs of loaded containers (+ 2.91%) and 186.7 thousand TEUs of empty ones (-11.97%).
Port of Los Angeles is the largest seaport of the United States. The Port encompasses 3.5 ha, 69km of waterfront and features 27 cargo terminals, including dry and liquid bulk, container breakbulk, automobile and omni facilities. In 2014, container volume at the Port of Los Angeles was 8.34 million TEUs.
