Third generation Noshiro Maru coal carrier enters service for Tohoku Electric Power

On September 30, a new coal carrier, Noshiro Maru, was delivered at Oshima Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. (Saikai city, Nagasaki prefecture), NYK said in its press release.The new coal carrier is the third ship to take the Noshiro Maru name since the first Noshiro Maru began transporting coal for Tohoku Electric Power Co. Inc. 23 years ago.
 
Compared to the standard 70,000-ton Panamax bulk carrier, the new Noshiro Maru has a wider beam and a shallower draft, improving transportation efficiency.
