On October 20, a comprehensive oil spill prevention and response exercise was held in the water area of port Ust-Luga.
According to Rosmorrechflot (Federal Marine and River Transport Agency), the exercise held within the area of responsibility of RosEstPetronal LLC involved the forces and facilities of the Baltic branch of Rosmorrechflot’s Marine Rescue Service: rescue buoy tenders Yevgeny Morozov and Alfard, sea-going tugboat Soyuz, emergency response team with special equipment.
Purpose of the exercise: to practice cooperation of forces, facilities, control bodies of Rosmorrechflot’s Marine Rescue Service and RosEstPetronal LLC in compliance with OSR Plan; to improve training of RosEstPetronal and MRS Baltic branch personnel on interaction in oil spill response activities; to improve boom-laying and oil collecting skills; to check if forces and facilities of RosEstPetronal are sufficient for oil spill response operations according to the company’s OSR Plan.
The exercise is acknowledged to be a success with the practice targets achieved and the tasks completed.
