Russia and Japan have confirmed their interest in the project on construction of Sakhalin-Hokkaido gas pipeline having agreed to intensify the works at the level of business stakeholders, says press center of the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East following the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Aleksandr Galushka, RF Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East, took part in the talks held on 15 December 2016.
The project provides for laying the surface part of the pipeline from Sakhalin to the port of Wakkanai on the Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, with its extension to the Tokyo Bay.
