By the Russian Government Order No. 1917-r dated 12.09.2016, it was decided to expand the seaport of Azov, by including in its borders a land plot located near the Don River mouth (10.5 km from the mouth), intended for construction of specialized terminal for export shipment of grain and general cargo with capacity 700 thous. tones, says press center of FSUE Rosmorport.
The sea terminal planned for construction on the territories annexable to the seaport of Azov is designed for servicing of vessels with deadweight up to 5 thous. tones.
The hydraulic structure of the sea terminal will comprise three berths (two for grain cultures shipment and one for general cargo shipment). Elevator construction is supposed for formation of vessel shipment batches of grain cultures, designed for simultaneous storage of 50 thousand tones, and creation of open storage sites is planned for general cargo shipment.
The sea terminal construction project is being implemented at the expenses of private investor.
In the seaport of Azov, the Azov Basin Branch manages 6 berths, which is 22% of the total number of berths in the seaport.
All the Azov Basin Branch’s berths are leased to the sea terminal operators.
Following the results of 10 months of 2016, 840.1 thous. tones of cargo have been handled on the Branch’s berths, which is 15.3% of the total number of cargo handling in the seaport for the comparable period of time.
