Transneft Druzhba finished implementation of the activities on increasing the delivery capacity of the first start-up complex of Baltic Pipeline System – 2 (BPS-2) commissioned in 2012. Transneft says oil supplies to Ust-Luga port through the oil trunk pipeline were increased from 30 million tons to 36 million tons of oil a year.
The works on increasing the delivery capacity of BPS-2 were performed from August 2016. The main activity was connection of the unit for anti-turbulence additives (ATA) introduction – the equipment was installed at Unecha line operation dispatcher station (LODS), the largest station at Transneft Druzhba. A special site for placement of the unit was arranged in the territory of the LODS, a manhole was assembled in the point of connection to the industrial pipeline, electricity and heating supply, lighting systems, grounding were assembled, a hangar for the ATA storage was constructed.
Besides, pressure at the linear portion of oil trunk pipelines of BPS-2 was increased.
The activities on increasing the delivery capacity were conducted in collaboration with Transneft Baltic, to which Transneft Druzhba transferred the assets of BPS-2 pipeline system in spring 2016. The works were performed as part of the programme of technical upgrading and revamping (TU&R).
