Andrey Diachkov appointed as Director General of the Severnoye Design Bureau (photo)

Severnoye Design Bureau (SDB, part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) says Andrey Diachkov was appointed as SDB Director General by the Resolution of the Board of Directors on 6 June 2017.

In 1974 Andrey Diachkov started his working career as apprentice ship's fitter. While continuing to work he graduated from Sevmashvtuz institute (Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute branch) in 1980 as mechanic engineer with a degree in ship power plants.

While working at Northern Machinebuilding enterprise he started as propulsion plant mechanic engineer and in 2005 he was appointed as Deputy Director General – Head of Military Equipment Production for Sevmash, JSC. In December 2009 at General Shareholders' Meeting he was appointed as Director General for Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering. In July 2011 at General Shareholders' Meeting he was appointed as Director General for Sevmash, JSC (being at the same time Director General of Rubin). From June 2012 till May 2013 he worked as President of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

Andrey Diachkov was awarded Order of Courage (1999), Order of Marine Merit (2006) and different medals. He is a laureate of Marshal Zhukov State Prize (2009).

The Severnoye Design Bureau, a leading company designing surface ships in Russia (both warships and civil projects), was founded in 1946. The Bureau has worked out more than a hundred designs of ships and vessels of different purpose ranging from 500-ton patrol boat to 26,000-ton heavy nuclear-powered cruiser, and from whaling boat to bulker. In general, more than 550 ships and vessels with the total displacement of about 1.5 million tons have been built by the Bureau's designs. All of them are notable for their seaworthiness, reliability and operation economy.
