Pre-assembly of the Crimea Bridge’s railway arch span has been completed at the Kerch coast’s construction site, says Crimean Bridge information center.
The arch span which is 45 metres high will then be fitted with additional service elements and prepared for installation in its designed position, onto the support structures.
“The railway arch consists of more than 400 large elements… We have assembled them in less than a year. Overall weight of the arch span exceeds 5,800 t. We are just to complete works on fitting the arch with service elements, cover metal structures with anticorrosion paint and prepare for transportation and installation on the support structure,” explained Roman Novikov, head of FSI Uprdor “Taman”. According to him, pre-assembling of the highway arch span is 80 pct complete.
Arch spans are the largest parts of the Crimea Bridge (Kerch Strait Bridge). 227-metre long arch spans will be 35 metres above the sea to ensure the passage of vessels under the bridge.
White coloured arch will be brighter than other structures of the bridge to ensure safe navigation and aviation in the region” said Dmitri Kondakov, Deputy Director General of SGM-Most.
According to Victor Galas, Deputy Director for Engineering, Institute Giprostroymost – Saint-Petersburg CJSC, the combined system applied for the construction ensures the reliability of the bridge.
