RF Navy’s Pacific Fleet is carrying out seasonal maintenance of navigation equipment
Specialists of the hydrographic service of the Pacific Fleet continue to maintain navigation equipment on the mainland and island areas of the Bering, Japan and Okhotsk Seas, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
In the course of the work, light-optical devices and focusing are checked, lamps and power supplies are replaced, and also floating and coastal marks and lights, automated beacons are renovated after winter.
In total, more than 1,000 different navigational aids will be inspected. To accomplish this task, about 20 special vessels and boats of the PF’s hydrographic service are involved.
The northernmost point of navigation maintenance will be the lighthouse ‘Russian Cat’ in Chukotka, the southernmost point will be the lighthouse of Gamov on the Peninsula of Gamov in the Japan Sea.
