Finnlines cargo ship in close situation to be driven to the shore of Haapaluoto island

A technical defect on the rudder of the cargo ship MS Finnmaster occurred on her way to Oxelösund from Naantali, the company said in its press release. The vessel had a close situation to be driven on the shore of Haapaluoto Island today at 12.17 am Finnish time. There was no danger to the crew, passengers or other traffic. No observations of possible bottom contact of the vessel with the ground were noticed. The vessel has not leakage of oil into the sea.

The vessel is anchored outside the fairway and the condition of her bottom is checked for safety. Diving is about to start. The Finnish Boarder Guard MV Tursas is on the site for as a matter of precaution, if needed.
