In January-August 2017, the port of Kaliningrad handled 9,023,400 t of cargo, up 15%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo grew 2.2 times to 2,034,200 t including 483,100 t of coal (+8%). Transshipment of mineral fertilizers fell by 82% to 2,800 t with other cargoes showing an increase (up 3.2 times).
Transshipment of dry loose cargo dropped by 13% to 2,424,500 t, general cargo – by 14% to 850,600 t.
The port’s container throughput grew by 33.7% to 164,550 TEUs.
Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries totaled 973,100 t (+16%), liquid bulk cargo – 1,957,000 t (+13%) including 1,034,600 t of oil products (+33%), 453,500 of crude oil (-9%) and 428,600 t of food cargo (+40%).
In 2016, the port of Kaliningrad handled 11.70 mln t (-8%).
