RZD freight volumes loaded in 10 months rose 3% to 1,45 bn tonnes
Freight volume loaded across the network of state-owned rail operator Russian Railways (RZD) between January and October 2017 rose to 1,45 billion tonnes, which is a 3.0% gain on the corresponding period last year, RZD press release said.
The loaded volumes include: hard coal – 294,2 million tonnes (+9.6% on Jan-Oct 2016 figures); coke – 9,3 million tonnes (-4.3%); crude oil and petroleum products – 194,4 million tonnes (+0.1%); iron ore and manganese – 91,3 million tonnes (- 0.2%); ferrous metals – 59,7 million tonnes (+2.0%); scrap ferrous metal – 13,1 million tonnes (+ 3.9%), chemical and mineral fertilizers – 47,3 million tonnes (+ 7.9%), cement – 23,6 million tonnes (- 0.2%); timber cargo – 36,7 million tonnes (+ 4.1%); grain – 17,1 million tonnes (+14.5%); construction materials – 113,5 million tonnes (- 7.8%); nonferrous metal ore and sulphur raw materials – 17 million tonnes (- 5.1%), chemicals and soda – 21,5 million tonnes (+2.6%); industrial raw materials and molding materials – 30,6 million tonnes (+ 5.2%).
The total ten-month throughput reached 2061,1 billion of tariff t/km (+ 6.5%), the volume, taking into account the mileage of unladen raicars – 2628,8 billion t/km (+ 6.2%).
In October loading across RZD rail network was up 4.6% y-o-y to 108.1 million tonnes.
Rail freight throughput in October 2017 increased 5.9% y-o-y to 214,8 billion tariff t/km, monthly freight volume, taking into account the mileage of unladen raicars rose 5.3% to 273,8 billion t/km.
