ABS hosts its cyber seminar in Athens and Limassol
More than 100 shipowners, operators, design companies, shipyards, equipment vendors and ship management companies joined the ABS Cyber seminars in Athens and Limassol on October 17th and 18th, the society said in a press release.
Responding to the needs of owners and operators, ABS is organizing these half-day seminars to provide an introduction to cybersecurity, put it into its maritime context and explain how risk-assessment is key to understanding security.
ABS presentations included real maritime cyber incidents examples, as well as outlined the ABS CyberSafety® program. Regulatory updates, national and international guidelines and frameworks including BIMCO guidelines, the USCG letter, TMSA3 and IMO updates on CyberSecurity formed a key part of discussion.
The high level attendance at these seminars shows the importance of cybersecurity in the maritime industry and the importance of continuing the cyber conversation through this series of ABS seminars.
The ABS seminar program is integral to the provision of advice and practical guidance on industry issues and the implications and implementation of new regulation.
