Variants for mooring Christophe de Margerie LNG tanker trained at Sabetta Seaport

FSUE “Rosmorport” says its pilots provided pilotage for the Christophe de Margerie LNG tanker in the seaport of Sabetta on November 7, 2017 and trained different variants for using towboats when mooring the vessel.

For the purpose of safe mooring in ice conditions pilotage has been provided with assistance of the Pur and Tambei towboats. The operation has been carried out in bad weather conditions: the ice was of eight points, the ice depth was of up to 15 cm and the wind gusted to 16 m/s.

During the operation, the vessel has been stopped by its own vehicles at full speed of five nautical knots. The mooring maneuvers provided an opportunity to assess the towboats’ possibilities, to determine the level of crewmembers’ qualification and their interaction with pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Arkhangelsk Branch.
