Governor Marina Kovtun will head Murmansk Region Delegation at VII International Forum “Arctic: Today and the Future”
The Murmansk Region Governor Marina Kovtun will take part in the VII International Forum “Arctic: Today and the Future” which will be held in 4-6 December in Saint Petersburg under the auspices of Interregional Public Organization “Association of Polar Explores”.
The organizers say that the Governor will traditionally lead a representative delegation from the subject, that includes deputy ministers and specialized ministers of the government of the Murmansk Region.
Issues concerned with the areas of activity in the region at the Forum will be presented by the following ministries: Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Fisheries and Agricultural Ministry, Development of Industry and Enterprise Ministry.
The Plenary Session "Arctic Time: Social and Economic Development of the Polar Region" will open the Forum, in which Governor Marina Kovtun and the First Deputy Aleksei Tiukavin will participate.
Reports of chairmen of the Government of the Murmansk Region are planned in 6 panel sessions during the days of the Forum. Particularly, Vice-Governor Evgenii Nikora will make a speech on the topic Elimination of Accumulated Environmental Damage on the territory of the region. Minister of Economic Development Elena Tikhonova will report the international cooperation. Minister of Development of Industry and Enterprise Olga Kuznetsiva will present a report on a situation and prospects of the development of aquiculture.
The key event of the Forum will become presentations of 8 reference zones of the development of the Arctic, among which a conception of Kola reference zone will be presented. Governor Kovtun will make a speech on the topic “Reference Zones of the Development of the Arctic: Problems and Prospects”.
The service backup of a navigation on corridors of the Northern Sea Route will become the main specialty of Kola reference zone.
In specialist’s opinion, the programme of renovation of Nuclear Ice-breaker Navy and complex development of Murmansk transportation hub will help the successful implementation of the plan.
An Agreement about cooperation between the Interregional Public Organization “Association of Polar Explores” and the Government of the Murmansk Region are also planned to be signed at the platform of the Forum.The special exposition of the Murmansk region resented at the exhibition of Arctic regions will introduce delegates and guests of the Forum to plans of the subjects on the development of the Arctic.
