"Klaipeda State Seaport complies with all the requirements imposed on European Union ports"- such conclusion was submitted by inspectors of European Commission and Europe Maritime Safety Agency that have visited Klaipeda Seaport. According to the port’s press center, European Union experts performed a comprehensive inspection how are security requirements followed in the Seaport and in its infrastructure and suprastructure facilities (terminals) and tried to determine whether the Seaport Authority has been performing properly the functions related with security enhancement.
"The Seaport is the important local strategic object, therefore extreme security is to be assured in it. As soon as the Liquefied Natural Gas terminal was put into operation, the bar of these requirements was raised. European Union seaports and their terminals are inspected once in five years at least. We are proud to emphasize that inspectors assessed our work and no any essential prescriptions related with our security ensurance activity in the Seaport were provided" – told the director of Port Regime and IT Unit of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority Egidijus Kuzmarskis.
Pursuant to Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania Klaipeda State Seaport Authority has been appointed to perform established in Regulation (EB) No. 725/2004 and Directive No. 2005/65/EB functions of Recognized Security Organisation and Port Security Institution in the seaports of the Republic of Lithuania and their infrastructure and suprastructure facilities.
