Assembling of Kerch Strait bridge’s motor vehicle part completed at one of the four sea sections. According to the Crimean Bridge information center, a ‘thread’ of metal structures of more than 1 km long is located about 4 m above the water level. All in all, 6 km of the 19-km long bridge will be above the water area.
Between the split and the Tuzla island there are 44 span structures (22 for both directions: Crimea and Kuban) are located on 21 supports. The structures weighing more than 150 t each were assembled of prefabricated modules at onshore facilities.
According to Aleksandr Mineyev, site manager, installation of the first span took about two days while the last one was completed for several hours. “We tried to improve the process”, he explained.
Installation of the support structures and the spans is underway along the entire Crimea Bridge. As of the middle of November, more than 430 supports structures of total 595 have been completed as well as 115,000 t of span structures of total 260,000 t. Asphalt laying is also underway at some of the spans.
