In January-November 2017, the port of Ventspils handled 18.5 mln t of cargo (+9%, year-on-year). According to the port authority, in November the port handled 1.5 mln t of cargo.
The growth was mainly driven by the increase in transshipment of coal and cargoes carried by ferries.
The number of passenger carried by Ventspils- Nynäshamn line grew by 26% to 39,034 passengers. The line also carried 297,000 t of Ro-Ro cargo (+18%).
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2016, the port handled 18.8 mln t of cargo.
