Throughput of Russian seaports in 2017 grew by 9% to 786.97 mln t (detalization)

In January-December 2017, seaports of Russia handled 786.97 mln t of cargo (up 9%, year-on-year), says press center of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 372.9 mln t (+11.1%) including 154.4 mln t of coal (+13.4%), 48.2 mln t of containerized cargo (+13.0%), 47.8 mln t of grain (+34.7%), 28.2 mln t of ferrous metal (-0.1%), 17.6 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+9.2%) and 3.1 mln t of refrigerated cargo (-0.3%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 414.0 mln t (+7.2%) including 253.2 mln t of crude oil (+11.1%), 141.5 mln t of oil products (+0.5%) and 14.7 mln t of liquefied gas (+8.8%). 

Exports totaled 606.5 mln t (+6.9%), imports - 36.1 mln t (+14.2%), transit - 58.2 mln t (+14.0%), short-sea traffic - 86.0 mln t +19.5%).

Operators of seaports in the Arctic Basin handled 74.2 mln t (+49.1%) including 29.1 mln t of dry cargo (+9.5%) and 45.0 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+94.5%). The port of Murmansk handled 51.7 mln t (+54.5%), Varandei - 8.2 mln t (+3.4%). 

The ports of the Baltic Sea Basin handled  247.5 mln t (+4.6%) including 105.1 mln t of dry cargo (+17.1%) and 142.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-3.0 %). The port of Ust-Luga handled 103.3 mln t (+10.6 %), Primorsk - 57.6 mln t (-10.6%), Big Port St. Petersburg - 53.6 mln t (+10.3%), Vysotsk - 17.5 mln t (+2.6%).

Throughput of seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin totaled  269.5 mln t (+10.4 %) including 118.4 mln t of dry cargo (+12.4%) and 151.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+8.9%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 147.4 mln t (+12.2%), Tuapse - 26.6 mln t (+5.6 %), Kavkaz - 35.3 mln t (+6.3%), Taman - 14.9 mln t (+11.1%), Rostov-on-Don - 14.9 mln t (+15.6%), Kerch - 9.5 mln t (-1.0%).

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 3.9 mln t (-34.1%) including 2.8 mln t of dry cargo (-9.2%) and 1.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-64.3%). The port of Makhachkala handled 1.4 mln t (-57.3%), Astrakhan -2.3 mln t (-10.3 %), Olya – 268,000 (+42.7%).

The ports of the Far East Basin handled 191.7 mln t (+3.3%) including 117.4 mln t of dry cargo (+5.8%) and 74.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-0.3%). Port Vostochny handled 69.2 mln t (+1.1%), Vanino - 29.2 mln t (-3.2%), Nakhodka - 24.2 mln t (+4.2%), Prigorodnoye - 17.4 mln t (+6.1%), Vladivostok - 16.9 mln t (+18.2%), Posiet - 7.7 mln t (-5.7%), De-Castri -  10.8 mln t (-6.7 %).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
