Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS, Register) will participate in TransRussia-2018, the exhibition for transport and logistics services and technologies. The exhibition will take place on 17-19 April, 2018 at Crocus Expo, the International Exhibition Center, Moscow.
The up-to-date projects with the RS participation will be presented at the company stand. The RS specialists will advise on every aspect of technical supervision during design, manufacture and service of various type containers, as well as materials and products applicable during manufacture of containers .
Within the period from 2016 to 2018, 37 designs of tank containers, 16 designs of general purpose containers, 15 designs of offshore containers, 25 designs of container modules have been reviewed and approved under the RS technical supervision; 30029 general purpose containers, 1663 tank containers, 6454 other types of containers including offshore ones handled at seas have been designed and manufactured. Expert conclusions for the carriage of dangerous cargoes for 14800 tank containers have been issued. Based on the survey results for compliance with the SOLAS Convention requirements for verification of the gross mass of containers to be loaded on board the ships, over 450 firms were recognized by RS, including the main container terminals in Saint-Petersburg, Novorossyisk, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, Kaliningrad, Murmansk are among them.
In connection with the growth of tank container fleet for the carriage of dangerous goods, in 2017 the Guidelines for determination of tank container technical condition has been developed by RS. For the first time, this advisory document based on the procedures of the ITCO – International Tank Containers Organization has summarised the international and national experience of using such transport equipment and evaluating its technical condition.
Within a correspondent group of the UN Sub-Committee of experts on the transportation of dangerous goods, the RS specialists are involved in the forming the uniform requirements to tank containers with vessels of composite materials that enabling to use such equipment in multimodal handling.
As a member of the national Technical Committee GOST R TC-246 “Containers”, RS actively participates in creating and updating the national and international container standards. The amendments to the ISO standards 1496-2 and ISO 1496-3 are at the closing stage at the moment (apply to reefer containers and tank containers) to be re-published in the nearest future.
Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) performs its activity at the container transportation market since 1973 when the USSR joined the International Convention for Safe Containers and the container-related Customs Convention. At the territory of the post-Soviet space RS represents the Bureau International des Containers. RS is a full-member of the International Tank Container Organization. Participates in developing the container norm base within the “Containers” Technical Committee of GOST R. In the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) the RS is a member of the Russian delegation and represents the International Association of Classification Societies in the Technical Committee TC 104 “Containers”.
RS performs technical supervision of containers for general and bulk cargo, chemical products, liquefied gases, helium, nuclear wastes, explosive materials, as well as offshore containers used for delivery of goods to oil-and-gas producing platforms.
