In January-March 2018, the port of Kaliningrad handled 3,560,700 tonnes of cargo, up 13%, year-on-year, says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo dropped by 18% to 590,200 tonnes including 258,000 tonnes of coal (+82%) and 4,400 tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+57%) while ransshipment of other cargo dropped by 44% to 324,400 tonnes.
Transshipment of dry loose cargo grew by 27% to 1,048,700 tonnes, general cargo – grew by 19% to 335,300 tonnes.
The port also handled 390,300 tonnes of cargo carried by ferries (+10%), 937,100 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+32%) including 615,700 tonnes of oil products (+62%), 134,200 tonnes of crude oil (-19%) and 174,900 tonnes of food cargo (+17%).
The port’s container throughput grew by 4.9%, year-on-year, to 52,161 TEUs.
