Cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin up 4% to 5.069 million tonnes
As of 1 August 2018, cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin totaled climbed by 4% to 5.069 million tonnes, says official website of Azov-Don Basin Administration.
Domestic cargo turnover grew by 2% to 779,000 tonnes, transit cargo turnover grew by 4% to 4.290 million tonnes.
From the beginning of the year, turnover of vessels totaled 2,967 including 1,436 vessels moving downward and 1,531 vessels moving upward (vs 2,908 units in the same period of 2017: 1,408 and 1,500 accordingly).
In July, total cargo turnover at inland water ways of Azov-Don Basin grew by 1%, year-on-year, to 1.552 million tonnes. Heavy fuel oil accounted for 30.7% of total turnover, wheat – 20.7%, diesel fuel – 11%. The flow of transit cargoes grew by 1% to 1.292 million tonnes. Domestic cargo turnover was flat, year-on-year, at 260,000 tonnes.
In July, turnover of vessels totaled 854 units (437 downward and 417 upward vs 831 units in June 2017 (426 downward and 405 upward).
The Federal Azov-Don Basin Administration is responsible for management and control of inland waterways of the Don River Don from the lower access channel of Lock No 15 (Tsimlyansk Reservoir) to the village of Aksai (the 3121-km stretch of the Don), except for Nikolayevsky and the Konstantinovsky hydroengineering facilities, and the tributaries of the Don River, Seversky Donets (from Krasny farm to the mouth) and the Manych River (from the Novo-Manychskaya Dam to the mouth). The total length of the Azov-Don Basin Administration managed inland waterways reaches 691.3 km.
