The development of exports from the Far East ports is hindered mainly by limited capacity of railways. Both exporters and port infrastructure are ready to ensure annual flow of cargo exceeding the railway limits by 30-40%, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Vladimir Sosipatorov, Managing Director of Vostok 1520 LLC, as saying at the TransRussia congress held in Moscow on April 16.
According to the expert, even with the completion of the BAM and Transsib projects the capacity of railways will not be sufficient to meet the demand of the market while the ports in the region are ready to face the considerable growth of cargo flows.
