On 28 June, WMU welcomed His Excellency Mr. Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport of Malaysia and officials from the Ministry, WMU says in a press release. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the opportunities for further collaboration on a range of issues of common interest. The President thanked the Minister for his decision to donate EUR 50,000 to WMU to replace its van, as well as previous pledges made by the Malaysian government. The delegation expressed its interest in further collaboration with WMU, including a potential establishment of a capacity building centre in Malaysia. The Minister addressed the Staff and Students and reiterated the support of Malaysia to WMU. The visit concluded with a tour of the University premises including the WMU E-learning lab and student lockers which were partially funded by Malaysia. To date, there are 53 WMU graduates from Malaysia. Prominent graduates include H.E. Dr. Dr Azfar Bin Mohamad Mustafar, the Ambassador of Malaysia to France as well as the Under-Secretary, Maritime Division of the Ministry of Transport, Captain Mohamad Halim Ahmed.
