Construction of new oil pipeline to Primorsk to start in summer 2007

Construction of the new 50-mln t oil pipeline to the port of Primorsk (Leningrad region) within the framework of the project on expansion of Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) may start in summer 2007, RBC reports with reference to the press center of Novgorod region administration.

On February 5, Transneft technical council approved declaration of intentions on BPS expansion at Unecha-Primorsk route. The project implies construction of a new branch and increase of Primorsk terminal capacity by 50 million tons. The first phase of the new pipeline will enable BPS to increase its capacity to 125-130 million tons of oil per year. In perspective, BPS design capacity is to make 150 million tons of oil. The construction is to be financed by Transneft through loans.
